This is a work in progress, I have never written in Iambic so please, suggestions welcomed.

Love to the Grave

A stable boy had entered in her heart
Concealed beneath the forage hay at night
His troubling eyes that seemed so dim and dark
Her hands tease through his hair so wavy rich
But he’s a stable boy and can’t compete

Though royal blood does course within her veins
False statements will protect her noble name
What scents of horses in the air suggest
A secret meeting in the barn required
The opposition banish him from her

Affluent family removed love she found
Now she’ll just marry the rich boy down town
It’s a happy life silk dresses for her
But his name and memories still remain
Length of time has passed and her heart grows cold

Crying out for him everyone’s aware
Knowing he hears her utterance of cries
Homecoming at her bedside love he brings
Carries her as their souls unite once more
Inescapable love was theirs always

Lastly they breathe their last breaths together
Entangled ghosts depart as they exhale
Departing to the hills of misty skies
Within safety and no separation
To the barn where their first encounter met

Now Margaret that is a lovely story and like Maurice I also comment you for using all these different styles, my husband Peter who is also on this site is in the process of learning all these different styles off another stylist site and doing very well I might add, it is a publishing company and he gets them published, too complicated for me. take care my friend..............Vera............

my favorite movie growing up was "Wuthering Heights" A nice memory for me as I remember watching it with my Mom, she loved romance. This poem was written with Heathcliff and Catherine and their deep soul love. Although I have altered the story to shorten it, the ending is true. enjoy!
