Love Sent By God

Love Sent by God

Love sent by God is special. It manifests along life's way.
It is the white of black and white. There are never shades of gray.

Don't fight it when it happens. God's love is the shining light
What He provides, is never ending, for God knows when it is right

Back in nineteen sixty-nine, I had come back from the war
Had been rejected by another; had my doubts what life was for.

My love for God unchanging. Friends and family the same
Marriage wasn't for me. I was no longer in the game.

I ignored God's guiding hand, drank a lot, caroused a bit.
I did not darken churches' doors. In my heart I did not quit.

God's wisdom brought you to me, working in his wondrous way,
He opened my unseeing eyes, and you took my heart away.

You gave me your heart in return. Now it's beating in my chest
Our love is never ending. God always knows what's best.

Has been over half a century, since that day so long ago.
Your heart still beats within me. Your loving spirit's there to grow.

God, in all his wisdom, knew there was nothing left to gain
He wrapped his arms around you, and relieved you of your pain

Now you're looking down from Heaven, you and He in all His grace
The love God gave to both of us still resides within this place.

When God calls me up on high, you'll be waiting there for me.
We'll always share the love God gave us, throughout all eternity.
