Love of Eight Belle's (Silly Filly)

Once lived a great ebony filly
She ran in the Sport of Kings
At three years old and still silly-
She was something,
this filly had wings.

Eight Belles,
second you did place
even though you fell-
In the greatest race.

Big Brown finished first,
But no one knew
your ankles had burst.
but through that finish line you flew.

Your heart took you
Where you feet couldn't go
He tried to tell you whoa-

Running on bone, you raced toward home
Bred into your spirit to fight-
They had to do what was right.
On the track that day
to Heaven you went-
Silly filly, just know how much
to the entire world you meant.
