Love Lock
Say not the thought before exhort
concerns resolve, that lock of hair,
love's hearing from thy heart's resort
spins carelessly, o'er ear to wear!
Bridge data's spring, inert affair
does vestige but the time's infringe,
some wrestling's fate, my own trust's dare
does barter with suggestion's hinge!
Protect thy grace, my own declare
so hunted like that lone deer's ring,
upon contention, beauty's bare
audaciously seeks moments's twinge!
Nor gain denotes this callous cringe
that moment's closeness so impair,
the pathway to my thought's impinge
speaks "love you" . . . through that lock of hair!
