Love Like An Alarm

All things can tempt me to the sweet kiss of sleep; fewer those that wake me from the placid deep. I found one way when I glanced upon your face - Your visage a canvas; my old dreams erase. I rise again like a victim of the grave. Blood courses through my veins past the damning stave. A sharp ring of the clock breaks the somnist's curse. Your soft gaze is an alarm, though not so terse. I feel asleep a shadow, knowing no need. Now my eyes are restless, until love they read. 11 March 2020 Written for "All Things Can Tempt Me" contest, sponsored by Beth Evans
