Love In the Springtime

Love in the springtime What sweeter thought than this The first warm days accompanied By a brand new exciting romance An old fashioned romance Like the ones written about in books In love poems That lived in the hearts of young people Before this 'anything goes' society A gentle caring approach like love used to be Filled with mystery With the excitement of that first kiss That first tender embrace Nowadays we try on the merchandise before we buy No mystery, no exciting anticipation The thrill is gone Oh for those simple days gone by When the excitement in our hearts Was almost too much to bear That experience has never been matched Never been equalled in all our succeeding years Love in the springtime of life © Jack Ellison 2014

I feel you have touched on a sad part of our evolution. Growing up in Eisenhower's fifties I can remember the anticipation of wanting to hold a girls hand. It was wonderful when it finally happened. These days it is wham bam thank you man before they even exchange names.

The penguins are cozying up to each other soon... Spring time is just around the corner... Boy will that blow Dragon's ego... When they pick each other... over him... This should be interesting... He'll probably horde them and their eggs! He'll think HE'S the proud papa to be... Silly Dragon!

I agree wholeheartedly with this my friend! Especially how society has become "try on the merchandise before we buy" that is so very true Jack! 'Love in the springtime' is a perfect title for this poem! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this enlightening piece this morning! What a glorious verse, quite the harmonious poem! Great Work!!
