Love From Above

How could I have found in you a divine love? If you weren’t sent from above Your heart and eyes: pure like the dove Set my whole life ablaze on a sacred stove I found thee higher than the trees in the forest In thee I have my good better and better, best You fly my whole heart to comfort’s crest Thank God you are mine, like a child owns his mother’s breast In thy face I see the boldness and blackness that’s surest Of all the flowers that I’ve seen, you’re the finest Of all the towers in my street, yours’ the highest Of all the stars in my simple sky, you are the brightest Do not leave my soul or you’ll tear me apart Keep me always in your mind in the crest of your heart Pledge to me your honesty, honor, height and heart - I will always be thine and nothing will do us part
