Love Doesn'T Conquer All

Love doesn’t always conquer all
Sometimes it’s just not enough
Feeling you slip away from me
More and more each day
Into an oblivion where I just couldn’t reach you
I do not understand
This illness that steals you
And keeps your heart closed to mine
I thought I could save you
But it wouldn’t let you go
I wanted to protect you
A love to have and to hold
Such a fool was I
It was stronger than me
Keeping you distant and cold
A love lost that could never be
And now I am alone
Now I stand alone

Deeply sad. Sometimes love just isn't enough, for some reason. If both parties are not fully committed, any love is ultimately doomed. Thanks for sharing.
