Love and Loss

Is it better to have loved and lost
Then to have never loved at all
The question still perplexes me
For I've taken the fall

A broken heart might mend in time
Or go on feeling blue
How are pieces gotten back
That still remain with you

The voids are filled with hardened thoughts
That soon construct a wall
Whose boundary guards a grieving heart
With each one it grows tall

So to chip away at the wall
Will now take quite some time
Only trust, and truth, and heartfelt love
Can lead to its demise
