Love and Hate
LOVE is raw
Really raw
HATE is raw
Really raw
Both with four letters
Bind and break
Through opposing tunnels…
What you love you can hate
What you hate, love
Love is white
Hate is dark,
One letter short
As meaning drifts
Into the gory folds,
The wrinkled face
Of the old antagonism,
Hate and spite
Love and sight
In the web of life
The complex whole
Holding forth
The onyx set in sharp
Thorns and sherry morns
LOVE is raw
Really raw
HATE is raw
Really raw
Both with four letters
Bind and break
Through opposing tunnels…
What you love you can hate
What you hate, love
Love is white
LOVE is bloom,
raw bloom
dyed in red-bluey wood
entombed in lyrics
on the lips of oohs and ahhs
at half crescent evenings
However, brief or long
the acapella lives on
Hate is dark,
One letter short
of its kind twin, light
Dark, a boring trudge
on the gloom scaffold
littered by sighs and hisses
Always, Hate's meaning drifts
Into the gory folds,
The wrinkled face
Of the old antagonism:
Hate and spite
Love and sight
In the web of life
The complex whole
Holding forth
The onyx set in sharp
Thorns and sherry morns
Love ruses and
Hate bruises
