Love?

As I feel my heart shatter
I hear the pitter patter
of your footsteps walking
away from me: talking
while my ears remain deaf
from the shock
as I turn to rock
and my heart turns to stone,
as I become a husk of skin and bone
my heart turns black as ash
as my eyes flash
open and I stand tall,
watching my sanity fall
off of me like and old snake skin
and wipe my eyes as I begin
my life anew
my life without you
