Lost Vision

That dusky maiden sashayed down the street Hips aswaying lightly, her ankles neat. Brown eyes alight smouldering with passion Bright clothes, the very height of fashion Dazzled by her milk chocolate complexion I sensed soon her coming in my direction How I wanted to speak but I was struck dumb No words out of my impotent lips would come Her white teeth flashed me a beguiling smile And off round the corner she danced in style Now standing stunned, still and alone Escaping my lips came a moan. As I cursed letting my chance slip Which made my dark mood deeper dip How could I have spurned my one chance Of hoping for a grand romance Faint heart never has won a lady And that was my fate on that sad day Gone was the girl of my dreams My mind filled with heartfelt screams.
