Lost Time

I woke up one day to find
that I had aged ten years overnight

I couldn't believe when I looked in the mirror
that things were not all firm and tight

Where did my life go, where was I now
how did those days sneak by

One day I was taking care of my child
the next thing I know is I saw time fly

My children were grown, almost out of the house
how could this happen to me

I want those days back and I want to know
how and what things happened to be

Nothing is bringing me any answers
no one is giving a clue

I'm so sad, so lost and confused,
I just don't know what to do

It took therapy to teach me of time lost
and more therapy to try to get it back

Truth is I turned on cruise control
when everything seemed out of whack

So I lost a big chunk of my life
through nobody's fault but my own

If I want to remember what happened then
I will have to go back and be shown
