Lost Soul

I wander in the gloomy night, And search for any ray of light; But all I see is endless dark, And all I hear is silence stark. I do not know how long I've been A prisoner of this dreadful scene; I only know that I have sinned, And that I cannot be forgiven. I once had hopes, I once had dreams, I once had love, I once had peace; But then I made a fatal choice, And lost them all with one bad deed. I killed the one who loved me most, And broke her heart with cruel words; I did not heed her dying plea, Nor did I shed a tear for her. And then I felt a sudden pain, A piercing stab within my chest; I fell beside her lifeless form, And joined her in the realm of death. But death was not the end for me, Nor was it a release from woe; For I was doomed to roam the earth, And never reach the heaven's glow. And so I roam, and so I grieve, And so I suffer endlessly; I have no hope, I have no rest, I have no chance of being blessed. I am the lost, the damned, the cursed, The spirit that can never soar; I am the one who cannot die, And yet can never live no more.
