Lost Love

What is the cost of a love that is lost? Is it the value of one’s mind and soul? A heart once infected, by love, now defective Broken now, never again to be whole Two hearts once on fire with passion and desire Now… just smoke in the breeze Left only are loves dying embers, and loves taunting memories Thoughts in my head of things that were said Both in anger and affection Wishing now, I could erase somehow The ones that may have caused this direction Some play in my mind, time after time Words that I felt were so true That magical phrase I still hear in a daze The words, “I will always Love You” I try to be strong, knowing life must go on So I try turning life’s page But it’s so hard to cope in a life without hope Trapped inside the bars of love’s cage Time cannot heal the loss of a love that was real For true love does not lessen with age
