Lost In Discontentment

Allured with materialism’s glimmer My focus was gripped by worldliness’ shimmer. Distracted, my heart yearned for earthly gain I thought would suffice me, but it just gave me pain. Then I realized, with God’s truth light I wandered from the source of genuine delight. Before, giving gifts with heart of gladness Was the task I was devoted to, devoid of selfishness. Thus, I admit that in my discontentment, I got lost Leading me toward forlorn of sorrowful cost. With repentance, I beg for God’s gracious mercy Beseeching for His forgiveness’ clemency. Grateful for His pardon, I bow to His leadership Now I abide in His blessed will, exercising faithful stewardship. Hence, I draw nigh* to Christ to direct me toward love sharing gesture So as not to wander and get entangled with any vain venture.
*James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. January 5, 2020 1st place, "STRAND SELECT 7 any form, any theme" Poetry Contest Sponsored by Brian Strand; judged on 1/9/2020.

It is amazing how fast we can get lost from the right path. Luckily there is always ample forgiveness. Lovely!
