LOSSES AND GAINS

In a park, now far away.
Children used to run and play,
Skipping, jumping, having fun,
A time of joy for everyone.

It makes me very sad to say,
This park is no longer there today.
The space is looking bereft and grey,
A loss for everyone.

I know that there is a need,
To house people, and to feed
Those whose lives are tough
And there isn't enough,
Housing for everyone.

But when all is said and done,
And too many parks have gone,
Replaced by newbuilds by the ton
A loss for everyone.
