Lord Knows

Lord Knows
By Franklin Price

Lord knows we needed rain a lot
From what I see that's what we got
All is soaked there is no doubt
We needed rain you've helped us out

Lord I think you've done quite well
It's rained a bunch I'm here to tell
More than a week an inch a day
And more to come along this way

I think it's rained both cats and dogs
Rivers are full so are the bogs
The ground is soaked will hold no more
Trees are felled on forest floor

My house is dry the roof is good
Glad it's not cold can't burn wet wood
Banks overflowed into the park
Don't have the skills to build an ark

Lord I still think you're number one
But enough's enough I hope you're done
I'm giving thanks but stop I shout
Lord knows you've ended Summer's drought
