Lord Help Me To Be Sober Again

There ain't no solace in that keg
Puts you down on your knees to beg
Take this thirst from within my soul
Please raise me up and make me whole

Dry me out to live once more
Open up salvations door
Let me see that heavenly shore
Where I'll want to take that drink no more

Where there's water clear and cold
Please give me strength and make me bold
Take this yearning from within
Help me to be sober again

I've wasted tons and tons of tears
Over all these many, many years
Meeting friends for just a few beers
Lord! Help me to stop wasting tears

There are times that I could cry
For a cold beer and a shot of rye
Hashing old times that slip away
Wasting many hours of each day

I say that I can quit anytime
Drinking beer and shots and a glass of wine
But I know deep down that that's a line
Please Lord, help me to be sober again

Please stop the burning in my soul
Pick me up and make me whole
I need your help to quench the fire
And making You my main desire

Please Lord, help me to be sober again!
