Notes About The Poem

I thought about this last night and wrote this. How do you feel when you look in the Mirror?

Looking In the Mirror

Looking in the Mirror

When I look into the mirror
I sense a young man looking out
I see an old man looking back
Wonder what that's all about?

The reflection of those wrinkles
The sagging jowls and cheeks
The white receding hairline
Those things that aging seeks

I'm not feeling all that old
Not as old as what I see
I believe the one that's looking out
Is only thirty-three

That's a forty year transition
That is looking back at me
I find it satisfactory
They're both happy, don't you see

Thanks for visiting. I think I have no illusions when I look in my mirror. I just choose to have the attitude of the inside out, not the reflection.
