Looking For the Meteor Shower

beyond light
in a park at the
edge of a small town
the car radio fades
to whispers of nothingness
darkness my intimate friend
one streak then another
something called
a shooting star
tells stories of
the reaches of outer space
a burning passion a passage
of a heavenly tail
swept by celestial light
and solar winds
moments of luminescence
seen through my windshield
where on other nights
breathless lovers dream
a universe their own

Hello! I’m a sophomore in Speech and I really liked your poem! For our speech contest, I’m doing a literary Program! I was hoping I’d be able to get your permission to use the poem in my program! Would you please let me use it? I will make sure to credit you and I won’t change the poem at all!

I like your sparseness of words chosen quite carefully for this piece. "swept by celestial light/and solar winds" is a poignant description of your subject. Your tone fit the language perfectly.

this is very nice and I loved where you took it, to the private universe of lovers!
