Looking at you now

It's been quite a while, but that's not uncommon for us, glancing back at the past with a kiss blown up above, What do we have left? as I see you for the first time in the flesh, speaking as if we're neighbours bumping into each other or just strangers passing in the street, What have we become? Is this what waving the white flag is? a way of admitting defeat? maybe it's karma, maybe it's the way it's supposed to be, even if we still don't understand, maybe we never will fully, I'd give anything & everything, just to be back there for a second, but I know that's not possible, so, this is me looking at you now, still trying to take in who you are staring right at me, if only we knew then, all that would be lost along the way, maybe, just maybe we would've put more energy into just being happy.
