Look Closely At Me

look closely at me,
what do you see?
do you see the me i see?
do you see the hurt and pain,
look into my eyes,
do you see the despair...
the torment that is lurking there,
or do you see the pasted smile,
i've learned to maintain when all the while
i'm dying inside
i'm crying out to be free from my demons
to live
to love
to simply take a deep breath
where did the joy go
where did my dreams go
where is my peace
my hope
look into my eyes
do you see the scream hidden there
crying out for someone to care
look closely at me...what do you see.
