Look At Their Smile

I think children are important
To you and to me
And I think I can prove it
So that you’ll agree.

What do you see
When you look into their eyes?
Could it be love
Coming from such a small size?

They’ll learn and they’ll teach
You’ll laugh and you’ll cry
And you wouldn’t settle for less
Or change if you’ve tried.

An innocent face
Despite what they’ve done
Eager for play
And being the mightier one.

You’ll want their attention
If just for awhile
And if you want hope
Just look at their smile.

Great poem, Brenda. The significance of children, especially offspring is easily, poetically explained in this heartfelt piece. Enjoyable poem overall. Check out some of my poems, might find some you like. Peace.

As adults we can all learn so much from young children. Only a young mind, that is unconstrained of all accepted restrictions, can truly soar into the stratosphere of new perceptions and original thought. The world belongs to the old...But it is inherited by the young. You are right, Brenda...There is hope in a childs smile - Hope for us all! My very best regards! :) john
