Long Road Home
Long road home
Long roads that lead to nowhere
Full body armor, because of fear
A bullet burst or a motor worst
You flinch at the sound and then you curse
A little further you will go
Looking deep inside your soul
What will I do? if I am attacked
You’re always thinking, never relaxed
Getting to base camp and back home
That's your thought, and you’re not alone
A glowing light up straight ahead
Your nearly home, to eat and go to bed
Long days watching for the enemy makes your eyes so tired
Plus hurting your head
You finally relax and lay down to sleep
Where somewhere in the darkness you hear someone weep
You think of home and what you left
You're lonely and hurting like the rest
Each day you mark one off
Praying to stay alive at any cost
Joking with friends about your days
Yet one is too many to be so far away
Upon that jet when you go home
You try to get your heart and mind in the right zone
Hoping and praying you'll never feel that alone.
