Long Over You

I thought I was long over you,
But now I realize I’m far from it.
We talk for hours on end,
About everything and anything.
Often about the girls you like,
And I love those talks.
But I always thought it was,
Because you’re my best friend.
But know I now,
It’s because without thinking,
I imagined that it’s me your talking about.

I lost my chance with you a year ago.
It was a typical romance story:
I liked you,
You liked me,
But the thing is we didn’t do anything about it.
And when your feelings drifted away,
I convinced myself that mine did too.
But you can only fool yourself for so long.

My feelings are still there,
And yours are long gone,
Never to return.
So as I write this,
My smile turns to a frown.
And will not turn around,
Until I get over you.
Which I have a feeling will never happen,
Not for a long time, anyways.

Thank you Karen! I've always been so shy of sharing my poetry, I figured sharing it to strangers would be easier then sharing it to those I see everyday. It means a lot that you liked it! Sierra <3

Good poem - I can relate to it...I've been in this same situation and place as you are now. Allow yourself to forget about those who don't know how special you are.. - All the best, Karen
