Long Lost Poets

I took a short hiatus away from this worldly place. Thinking that my writings were a bit of a disgrace. Who was I to think that my words should be read. For they are no where near as perfect of long lost poets who are dead? Why was I even writing them? that reason may never be known. At least I'll know I've tried as many writings have now shown. Words will be passed along in good due time. Maybe one day I will come to learn that those words once were mine. So now I must further journey into these words that fill my head. Hoping someday to be remembered like the long lost poets who are dead.

Very good poem Dan. My daughter got me interested in poetry. I would get a subject thought, sit down to write, and the lines would come to mind almost quicker than I could write them. It seemed like some kind of super-natural inspiration. I'm convinced of this. God bless your efforts.

I know what you are talking about Lionel, I too have inspirations like you. I call them God Poems and I'm just the pen. I wake up in the middle of night with words in my mind and can't write them down fast enough. Strange, but feel blessed. God bless you, Avis

Never stop writing from your heart how much you are in love with Jesus and the hope that you have in Him!...I too have been away for a while working on raising my family; always constructing something creative in my mind and always frantic when a pen and the back of an old envelope can't be found to jot my ideas down! Gotta lot of catching up to do here!...I need to go revisit your shape poems! hahaha

Danny! Insightful write...Your poem reminds me of one that I wrote a year or two ago for Chris Aechner's contest...In a nutshell, I reflected on how much more I desired to read the poetry of my friends here on the Soup. These poems (just like yours) are the ones that stir my heart the most. Your funny poems that I have been reading over the years...And just remember that anytime a poem is written honoring our Lord and Savior it is automatically published in heaven. You are already famous there!

It seems like many writers, artists, singers, and actors become famous, or are remembered more often, after their deaths. It's sad that they will never get to enjoy what they've worked so hard to achieve.... I think everyone can relate to this poem. We all hope that our poetry will not be forgotten, and maybe a part of ourselves can remain here forever. Very nice work, Dan!

NEVER 2nd guess the creative act my friend. Look at the words as flowing from a creative wellspring above your head. Simply pipe into the flow. Nab them som'bitches and put em on paper...Forever. There is no good or bad writing. Only truth and bullshit. Keep it real and you are A-OK Bruthuh!~ I have NEVER edited a poem. I keep them exactly the way they are pushed out! and that sir, is and has to be perfect,,,Truth~ I am not a writer at all, but simply taking notes on what's already there.

Hi Danny; It's been a long time, but I have a good excuse. I have been very sick and don't write as much. I am still trying to get well and sure hope I do. My computer also messed up and sometimes it didn't work. NOW I HAVE A NEW ONE and I'm trying to get used to it. Danny - about your poetry, I have always enjoyed your poems. One day we will all be lost poets. Just keep writing... Lucilla
