Long Distance

Long distant relationships Almost never last Trust becomes an issue Sometimes way too fast Out of sight and out of mind Someone begins to play Distance keeps the secrets When love is far away Sometimes the lack of attention Can even seal your fate You need to feel affection And you simply couldn't wait The calls seem to come less often You thought your love was pure But distance somehow clouds your mind And now your just not sure If somehow you escape these things And it doesn't apply to you Consider yourself blessed indeed For you're one of the lucky few Distance is the silent killer That's hidden from our heart It swallows up relationships And tears your world apart

Hey, Larry! Very perceptive. As described, I'm one of the lucky few, traveling in my job away from home more than near my sweetheart. Absence makes my heart grow fonder. (Before our 14 years of marriage we dated long distance 7 years.) The most disheartening feeling for me comes from the distance I sometimes feel when we are close together! (...when life's daily chores become too distracting of what's really important, it sometimes seems we are more like caring friends than anything else.)
