Long Before

These feelings inside 
difficult for me to describe 
Emotions that flow in our minds
will bring us so close in time 
Like the waves in the ocean 
The clouds in the sky
I wanna hold you forever 
through everyday of my life 
Without looking back 
or ever letting go 
Strength is what we need 
to let this love grow
Picturing all the days left 
forever in our path
Makes me smile and enjoy 
this place of passion we’ve kept 
lying with you until the day I pass 
Then I’ll look back 
on all the happiness that’s occurred 
wondering what would have been 
if we both wouldn’t have heard 
the crying of love and passion emitting 
so deep within our hearts
With destiny and fate
so strong from the start
Listening to those feelings 
so long ago 
that erupted from my soul
Never forgetting 
how true love came so long ago

Gregory Richard Barden October 8, 2020 at 12:22 AM I really enjoyed this, Matt - not typical rhythm and metre, but that's what I like about it ... it still has a syncopation that makes me think of my years playing in Funk bands and Jazz ... it holds together, but in an unexpected way.
