Lonesome Love

I remember a time
now a distant memory
but you were once mine
it started sweet
but went sour like lime
we first met
I witnessed a crime
you stole my heart
oh what a time

life had moved forward
so did our decisions
some good some bad
but with one
I was especially glad
you were all that I ever wanted
all I needed to have

one month
till you share my last name
I may not be next to you
but my feelings have not changed
I just wished yours hadn't
you spoke words of great sadness
distance had taken its toll
I couldn't be there when you needed me most

you found someone else to hold you close
I wasn't the one anymore
you both watched as my heart slowly shattered and broke.
my emotions were your toys
jealousy took over while you had your fun
I was manipulated by love
now you say you need a real man huh

months passed
and here you crawl
back to me
you say you love and always thought about me
but that was ******** that even I could see
you used me
you lied to me
you tarnished my ideal of love
you now realized you messed up
these lies I am above
so I'll spread my wings and fly
like a lonesome dove
