locked in the sands of time
Out of the past came a voice,
A voice that was hushed by time.
It said to me in a voiceless plea,
We are the ones that went before.
The ones who were once loved and adored.
Our lives were like sand on the ocean floor.
In timeless metre and oceanic roar.
We say what many have said before,
Weep not for us who’s time is oe’r,
We did not weep for the ones before.
Perhaps our fault, perhaps our crime, locked in the sands of time.
