Living Words of Love
Living Words Of Love
Raised up in a small town
a place I know so well.
Missing letters from it's sign
that now just calls it hell.
Scars remain that none can see
though not from my own choices.
Wounded was the heart in me
from screaming, drunken voices.
Clouds they came and sometimes stayed
blocking out the bluest skies.
Like make-up that my mother wore
to cover her black eyes.
Vows I made from early on
so much more than a whim.
Swearing on my very soul
I would not be like him.
Never prone to lashing out
I did all that I could.
Now I find the time has come
I take more than I should.
It's like a sign I'm forced to wear
saying I was born for losing.
Or maybe it's the love unknown
and lovers that I'm choosing.
Either way it's plain to see
somehow I've gone half blind.
Or maybe who I hoped to be
somewhere I lost my mind.
All the fears I one time faced
the things I've come to dread.
Never was I at all like him
much more like her instead.
All the miles I have come
the memories that find me.
Of the darker days I lived
forever now behind me.
Clearly now I've come to see
the bluest skies above.
What's found in me abounds in me
are living words of love.
