Living Nightmares

Velvety carpet I tread with feet bare.
Anything on earth for him not to hear.
This is surely no game played with rule fair.
Any chance of escape scarce is from here.
I'm held in the hands of my puppeteer.

Breath I hold, tense, as I count the seconds.
Gaze drifts to the small opening upstairs;
A decisive step to take, it beckons.
Stop cold I did; a light touch on my hairs;
"Love, come I've baked you cake for you.…":nightmares!
