Living For Eternity
I live with eyes fixed on eternity,
the notion there’s reward for this is not
a breeze that floats my craft, not oar that points
to brightest stars that promise to shine past
the dawn I dream (I trust) serves life at sea.
Eternity is not a ‘goal’ that I
run toward, but ‘purpose’ which heart fuels with songs
divined. This rhyme but one I hope worth note.
My best thoughts never brag “That’s all she wrote!”
but point to what is yet to come (to wrongs
world’s not addressed so far.) Deny or cry
at finite time I’ve left to act? Tell me,
if so, when there’s no net that I can cast
that might not feed your soul? What court appoints
the hour, my final day for toil? My cot?
Eternity knows best! To serve’s to BE!
