Live!
Surrounded by hardware, bleeps in tempo
Playing a harmony, angelic techno,
Blanket his sleeping, feeding his being,
"Live!" they sing, "Live!" in the fluorescent glow.
Praying in unison, hands fiercely clasping,
Lips mouth a litany, reverent breath,
Eyes hold his contour, dwarfed by machinery,
"Live!" they plead, "Live!" in defiance of death.
Wires and surgery, plasma infusions,
Medical miracles, deftly perform,
Love be the energy, pure and healing,
"Live!" it weeps, "Live!" in the eye of the storm.
Small and so innocent, fragile of construct,
Pale and yet vivid, surfing the wave
Of faith, hope and charity, God in his mercy,
"Live!" he shall "Live" in the sleep of the brave.
