Little Girl

i was once a little girl
that girl wouldn't shed a tear
she was strong and brave and madly courageous
she stuns me, every year

she was made of steel
a heart of diamond
loving like many, but it wouldn't be too obvious
she was everything she had to be, and more
she was everything she knew she'd never be once more

that little girl
stood straight and steady
even when the storm was too heavy
it was all roses and vines
until she grew up to have a life like mine
