Little Bird of Hope

Amongst the lilacs and the breathy spill of spring 
lives a bird of hope that is longingly waiting to sing 
he's a passerine of color rich and bright , a nestling,  
a feathered friend, that chirps with every swing

A precious jewel thief who plucks my every string   
while building up a habitat for little ones that cling 
with sweet consent I do embrace their joyful bring 
as I watch them soar, on powdered chestnut wings   

Amid the noise of this world my haven has a gate 
and while I sit upon a bench like a still Victorian plate,  
he's flies in like the weather and he is never late  
this tiny creature of the air, light as featherweight 

Amongst the lilacs theres a breathy spill of spring 
and a little bird of hope that sings and sings and sings.
