Literal Poetry Or Metaphoric Hmmm

Literal poetry is my go to gal
Metaphorical poetry is impossible for me.

Metaphors do not come naturally
They are not only difficult
to understand but impossible
to write.

Literal poetry is concrete to me,
Metaphors are abstract.

The only abstracts I want
are in my artwork,
not in my poetry.

For they are not easy.
They are difficult
And I am all about easy.

Your writing is so creative, I'd never noticed that you don't do metaphors until reading this! What comes easily isn't always a bad thing... as Keats once said, "If poetry comes not as naturally as leaves on a tree it had better not come at all"! Writing the way you do is perfect, because it expresses YOU! Love your poetry and you, my friend. ;)

Thank you my friend. I was trying to do an online class or two about poetry. Ha! The syllable teacher and I disagreed about almost all of the syllable breaks, so I gave that up. Metaphors? Ha! Nothing tougher, or more unnatural. You know I am all about just throwing it down there and hoping....

You are good at it. You understand it. You speak it. I do not.
