Listening
Hearing is important
But what’s often very clear
Is that sometimes what’s been said
Goes in and out the other ear.
But listening gives access to
The message that’s implicit
And those who fail to do so
May be quick to just dismiss it.
The difference may seem subtle
Yet when hurt keeps reappearing
It’s a sign that no one’s listening
To words they’re merely hearing.
