Listen To Me

THEY TELL ME TO BE A LITTLE BIT WISER

THEY TELL ME TO BE A LITTLE MORE SECURE

THEY TELL ME TO BE A LITTLE BIT SMARTER

THEY TELL ME TO BE A LITTLE BIT STRONGER

THEY TELL ME TO BE A LITTLE BIT FUNNIER

THEY SAY I NEED TO LET MYSELF GO ALITTLE BIT LONGER

I SAY I AM WHO I AM AND I DONT GIVE A DAMN WHAT YOU THINK

WE ALL BLEED THE SAME
WE ALL BREATHE THE SAME
WE ALL WILL DIE THE SAME
WE ALL WILL RISE AGAIN THE SAME WAY

THEN THEY TOLD ME TO BE A LITTLE BIT WHITER
I SAID GOD IS MY FATHER AND YOU ARE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS
AND WHILE WE ALL STAND TO BE JUDGED ONE DAY I KNOW IT WILL NOT
BE ON OUR COLOR

THE ONLY COLOR THAT MATTERS IS THE COLOR RED OF HIS BLOOD THE BLOOD THAT WAS
SHED FOR ALL SO THAT OUR SINS AND INGNORANCE WILL BE FORGIVEN

SO IN WHEN YOUR WAYS ARE UNKIND AND YOUR HEART FULL OF MALICE
REMEBER THE COLOR OF FORGIVENESS AND LOVE

WE ARE ONE WITH EACHOTHER
SO I WILL BE THE WOMAN I BECOME AND I WILL WALK IN HIS SHOES
I AM MY BROTHERS KEEPER ARE YOU

You capture well the spirit of my favorite words: "Judge not lest ye be judged." When we stand before God, we will have no color but the light of our souls. God bless you, Brandy! Love, Carolyn
