These series of poems where written for my poetry course taken as and at UWM-Ind. Study. These poems appear in my book "Ripples"
Part I
The wolf had been knocking at the door
Longer than I had realized
A young man saw an old man in the mirror
It's taken all in stride
It's so cold, where did I go?
I hadn't noticed the rust on the jailcell bars
Until I looked at all the scars
I wish I could laugh
Because of a whole heart, I am one half
Where are you? With the devil I presume
Well I'll just fly off to Cancun
Part II
There she goes again
Struggling with a frozen pen
She writes now for another
Because she seems more at ease
There I go writing anything I wish
Writing with no structure, rhythm or verse
Erasing all the lead mistakes
It is not the same as a virgin page
I am sorry it's just not the same
Part III-Parallel Collision
Everyday I die slowly
Each breath I take towards the last
And when all you can be is lonely
You cling to the things in the past
When a child asks you in wonder
About the things you've seen and done
Do you lash out with thunder
Or explain which road you're on?
A lover takes on jealousy
As another vow
I'll take all this hell inside of me
And cast it towards the clouds
"Oh God, please!" I ask as I fall to my knees
"Lift this burden that clings like a shroud!"
