Liquid Destruction

LIQUID DESTRUCTION My ol' friend where have you been? I need you this time once again You comfort me when I am stressed My mind you numb with a sweet caress So l take a drink of you with high expectations to drown my sorrows with false sensations My friend I am here for you whenever you need It was the first taste of me that planted this seed I have charmed you into full utter submission taken away all of your hope and ambition You cry out for me to ease the pain but really I am the one you should blame Listen to me and heed my instruction I am not your friend but liquid destruction

Quite a valid conversation you have going for yourself, Erin, may I call you Erin? I have been there swimming right along with that liquid destruction, but I fought back and won. I, after many years sober, have begun drinking a couple of glasses of cheap California burgundy in these late years, helps me sleep.

Yes you may call me Erin. This poem was inspired by a few of my family members who have a problem with drinking. I can myself identify with some elements of this . Thank you poem for your comment and honesty. God bless
