Lingering With You-Collaboration

Silent One.... Lingering light dwindles among the horizon Twilight fades with a farewell from the sun Shadows disappear as stars sprinkle the sky with the moon illuminating those who walk by Woods appear so much more ominous at night silent blackness causing an overwhelming fright Trees are like charcoal – inky blankets all around as nocturnal animals hunt without making a sound Country paths seem lifeless in the eerie dark occasionally disturbed by a guard dog’s bark Temperatures fall with the mid winter freeze people feel the chill with the cold air breeze Day light sneaks in as the sun begins to rise the moon and stars hide away in disguise Patiently waiting for the darkness to reappear so they can play again, when humans disappear. Response... Sit with me as sunset silently drifts into the sea and when he's closed weary eyes, linger with me to walk beneath celestial skies. I'll hold your hand pretending we're on a beach of warm golden sand No trees will there be to thwart your imagination Nor hungry beasts; just some harmless crustacean Frothy waves will chase us as they race ashore Together, we will listen to the mighty ocean's roar When the night grows chill, we'll stand in embrace You'll gently lift my chin until we're face to face A sensual kiss will allay our need to be shy Lured by shining stars that are sprinkled in the sky We'll spend the night entwined, until sunrise when you wake and stare lovingly into my eyes We've no need to wait for darkness to reappear Loving you this morning made that perfectly clear ~ ~ October 18, 2020 ~ ~ Collaboration with Silent One

You no longer write for contests? I'm trying to win a challenge, so I've been entering quite a few.

It was a great response. To be honest, I do not remember why I wrote it. Think it may have been for a contest...

I sensed loneliness on first read, so I soothed a soul...two souls. Different can be good. Thanks for the honor of a placement in your contest.

It wasn't actually written together, Peter. The first lines by S1 are his contribution to the contest he's hosting. Thanks so much for the visit. I love your gorilla!

I love this romantic response, Jenna, soft and sensual, and your last two live..."no need to wait for darkness to reappear", love is just as good in the daylight as in the darkness. Hugs.

Good morning, John, and thank you for your discerning thoughts. I wasn't sure how to respond the first time I read his lines, but on second reading I felt a sense of loneliness. Why waste a star sprinkled sky on worrying about eerie darkness, or wasting a beautiful morning? So, I thought I'd give him something else to occupy his mind besides animals coming out to play. ;)
