Limbo
Some days we feel as though
We’re living in limbo
Not fully alive or deceased;
Can’t get no satisfaction,
Traction, motivation, meaning, sense
Of inner peace. Idling awhile, waiting
For this cloud to pass over head;
Stuck in the shadow
Of what to do now…
Time passing, dreadful dread.
Reviewing long lists
Of that and this:
Write a letter, call someone,
Pay the bills or just sit still
And day dream of races run.
Down in the valley
Where hope is lean
But never so far away
With sunlight burning through
Canyon walls;
Limbo ain’t no place to stay.
Longer than necessary to
Get back up;
And focus on who we are;
Life’s a long hard road and limbo
Is one step
On the way
To the stars...
In the mean time waiting
In darkness fading
Into deeper shades of black-
Ness all around;
Decisions untethered, thoughts unfeathered
Everywhere abound.
To the sound
Of waking, slowly taking
Another tack on the seas:
Limbo above and down below
Trying everything in its power
To devour you and me.
Unless, until,
We’ve had our fill
Of living life lethargic;
The only way to kill the beast
Is choosing a higher target.
Shooting right between the devilish eyes
We let them fly -
Our arrows of creation;
Releasing pain from whence it came
Turning
Limbo to
Elation...
