Lillys Christmas Question
Lilly’s Christmas Question.
Dear Gran, here’s a note, my little note of thank’s
Thank you for all my gifts, and all the festive pranks.
Love my Christmas jumper, and my new hats a hoot.
My brilliant crayons and my shiny yellow boots.
But Grandmother i do need to ask,
I have a question and it starts with Dads flask.
You know the one i mean,
His work one, that Mum keeps nice and clean.
Mum asked me to be an Angel and take it upstairs,
To his room, where Dad says his prayers.
I got to the landing, i walked past the clock
Opened his door, “oh my”. . . What a shock.
Black Wellington boots,
Placed neat on the floor.
And St Nic’s suit,
Hanging behind his wardrobe door.
Now i know the Saint, and he made his call,
Cos i sneaked a peek, when i hid in the hall.
I saw him Gran, such happiness, such glee,
He was eating pie, placing gifts under the tree.
What a worry Gran, what are we to do?
Other kids need him, his reindeer too.
Is this another joke? Is this “Dad banter”?
Or has Dad gone mad? and nicked our Santa?
Oh he is in bother if he did,
If i tell my brother he will blow his lid.
Mum will be cross, all the neighbours too,
No more carol singers to go make a brew.
But ill try not to worry, put it to the back of my mind,
I know my Daddy and i know he’s kind.
Just a mistake, like when i spill my squash,
Maybe it needs a repair, or running through the wash.
Well i will wait Gran, wait to hear from you
Hope you enjoyed Christmas, the new year too.
Love you Gran, see you real quick.
All our love, Lilly Moon and baby Rick.
