Like the Birds

It’s coming down like cats and dogs
Like it will never stop
The pounding on my rooftop
Makes my head want to pop

It’s fall again, it’s setting in
The birds have taken wing
They won’t be back ‘til it dries up
Sometime in the spring

The autumn showers have started now
I hope they go away
But that seems like a pipe dream
I think they’re here to stay

The birds are simple creatures
But they’re smart enough to go
Their instincts tell them what to do
What do they know that I don’t know?

I think I’ll take their good advice
And pack up all my things
And see you back here when it’s warm
I’m heading for Palm Springs
