Like Mother Like Daughter

Like Mother like Daughter 
 You will always hold a special place in my heart
There is an invisible bond we have that will  alway set us apart
 See although the days of tip toeing in your  high heels are gone
 with  the drawings of you  as a stick person standing beside in crayon.
  The memories of putting  your makeup all over my face  
 See some things however long gone never erase 
 Those moments when i refused to let go and kept  a tight grasp on your hands.
 And the memories of you holding my belly as i tried to swim with armbands.
Its these memories as we grow that we hold dear
That are kept alive in our minds and never disappear
As i look back  at those memories, i always wanted to be just like you mum
Little did i know as i grew  that would happen in time to come.
 See those times you told me off for being too close to the tv 
I now tell those little ones around me if they do that they will have square eyes to see.
Those times where you sent me to bed for not eating my tea
Back then i thought you were unfair but now i agree.
The worry you felt when i stayed out and didn't keep in touch 
I understand that worry now and how it isn't a bit  too much.
See when i was a teenager i thought you just  loved to nag 
 Thought you wanted my life to be such  a drag!
Turns out i couldn't have been more wrong
As you just wanted what was best for me all along.
Now i am a young woman myself and try to guide children the right way
I realise i'm just a chip of the ole block standing here today.
See you hold a special place because without you  i’d be lost 
Without your  guidance who knows what paths i would have crossed.
 You're the one person who has been there since i entered the world
As i stood there in my little dresses with my hair tightly curled.
You're the one person who from the get go has been my angel here on earth 
Without your  love and guidance i wouldn't know my worth.
Everything i am and have been i owe to you  my mum
 I hope i  become half the women you are , in the future that's yet to come
 As then I know there will be anything that i can overcome.
See your not just my mum but  you're also my best friend
Someone who i will always depend.
You're strong, and beautiful on the inside and out
The best mum i could have ever   have wished for without a doubt
 You're honestly an angel in disguise and  a true gift from above.
 my one true love.
