Like Father, Like Son
For many years I have known a family in which
four out of five sons, like their father, went into
business for themselves. Interesting enough, the fifth son, now 59, was nine months old when the father passed away. Same blood; same DNA, but he has never ventured into a business of his own.
Seems rather telling, and it paints a vivid picture
of the simile, 'Like Father Like Son'. Self-reliance,
entrepreneurship, industry, and initiative. The 'details' are deeper, and the 'likeness' can be rather subtle.
The 'likeness' goes far beyond the physical, and only
discerning hearts are able to probe the very core and
essence of life; and therein, expose clarities beyond
morality or visible habits.
Not all apples are created equal. My wife sent me to the store to buy a certain kind of apple for her 'apple turn-overs'. They were apples from 'a tree' like all the rest, but only one type of apple was suitable for her turn-overs.
