Like Birds

We, like birds, Soared and dove and hollered In the gentle air of a midsummers twilight Before the watchful eyes Of a loving and forever Yes. Your exclamatory remarks Don’t getcha too far, Do they boy? (not anymore at least.) This night was meant for lovers And builders Of the cloudy dreams That float across the hole-punched sky. And the wind dances upon my nose As if to say we were meant to be.
