Like a Child

As a child,
Like a grown up, you would put on my make-up,
In my heels you'd stumble trying to stand up.

     As a child,
Knowingly, you played at 'mothers' with your friends
Each one using grown up language in pretends.

     As a child,
Many times you would not do as you were told,
Capricious, stubborn as any eight-year-old.

     As a child,
Already knowing that you wanted to be
A loving mother, exactly, just like me.

     As a child,
Peas in a pod, we went through it together
Daintily dancing through all kinds of weather.

Time has passed, and even though you're grown up now
Admit, you can't hide sometimes stumbling somehow
     like a child.

I think we all let our inner child out a times... We should embrace it rather than hide it away... I can see you have written this from the perspective of a parent and done in a way many will relate..

True. Stumble, fall, pick yourself up, but always remain a child at heart.

This is such a beautiful and unique write dear Pascal, youv written about inner child, and being child like and how adulthood too sometimes can sometimes not hide that phase of growth ~ this really touched me! My son always says to me that I am like a child ~ he is more mature than me at times. I really loved the flow and what youv conveyed here in such an effortless manner. Pleasure reading you today Sending you light always 💫

I'm pleased you liked this one. I tried to write it from a mother's point of view, I hope I've succeeded.

I don't even want to 'hide my child.' (It may be the only thing I've got left, actually. lol)
